EN ROUTE!
I was born in the South of France, in Provence. My Baccalaureat was based on the study of foreign languages: French literature, English, Spanish and Italian. I also studied History and Philosopy. After my A’ levels, I undertook a 4 year part-time Diploma in Business Management along with English and Spanish.
I came to the UK in 1992 and took up post as an Adult and Post 16 Education teacher, studying with Bath University. Having been educated in two different countries, I certainly appreciate the challenge that learning and using language as a non-native speaker represents.
To overcome this challenge, I recognise how important it is to build a strong rapport with each learner in order to establish mutual trust and understanding. This is vital for the learner to grow in confidence and be more willing to overcome barriers as they arise, particularly relating to negative past experiences, amongst learners of all abilities.
